ISCO Injection to Achieve Site Closure
Orion was retained to design and implement an in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) treatment program at an active gasoline service station in Southern California impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons. Historical groundwater monitoring results indicated that gasoline range organics and benzene were below State Low-Threat Closure Policy (LTCP) guidance requirements for 3 years. However, results of trend analysis indicated that oxygenate (methyl tert-butyl ether [MTBE] and tert-butyl alcohol [TBA]) concentrations were not stable or decreasing at a rate sufficient to achieve closure in a reasonable period of time. Orion Hires new Staff Geologist
In October 2019, the Burbank office welcomed Kirstin to the team. Kirstin has a B.S. degree in geology from Millersville University in Pennsylvania and she recently started volunteering at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.
During her spare time, Kirstin enjoys trying new recipes and exploring new hiking trails. She also enjoys sitting by the beach, practicing yoga, and reading. After college, Kirstin traveled the country for 3 months. She drove approximately 9,000 miles, visited 30 national and state parks, and hiked almost 300 miles. Kirstin is very excited to be starting her career in environmental consulting at Orion.
