Berkeley-based Sr. Project Geologist Scott recently reached 10 years at Orion! Normally, we would celebrate a milestone like this with a lunch celebration, but the world just isn’t allowing for that at the moment… IOU Scott!
Scott’s a big part of the Berkeley team and Orion. Don’t let his laid-back style (think: sandals to his first client meeting) fool you, his colleagues say he’s one of the hardest workers up there in NorCal. He brings vast experience with him to every project and his management style is dynamic and innovative. Scott has a creative and unique perspective and he creates a comfortable environment for others around him to share their own unique viewpoint in order to find the best solutions to every problem, regardless of complexity. Scott typically works out of his Santa Rosa home office/tortoise sanctuary, but during his (pre-pandemic) visits to Berkeley the office takes on a new atmosphere. He has a genuine interest in the folks he works with, so whether it’s projects, the farm, home brew, or wood-working, there’s always tons of discussion and collaboration. It’s also impossible to forget when Scott’s in the office because, well, his voice PROJECTS! When the VoIP is on the fritz, Scott just shouts down to Long Beach to meet with his project teams. What does Scott find most memorable about the past 10 years?
“Most memorable… Just getting to work with awesome coworkers. That or the time the Berkeley office went disc golfing and I lost my disc in a marsh and had to wade through some knee-deep mud to retrieve it.”
Aw, shucks Scott, you’re making us blush (also, #dedication #discislife).
Scott’s come a long way since skateboarding down from the Cal campus as Berkeley’s first intern and we look forward to continuing to watch Scott’s journey at Orion.
