Orion was a sponsor of the Center for Creative Land Recycling’s (CCLR’s) 2018 California Land Recycling Conference in Carson, California, during October 2018. Several Orion staff from the Long Beach office attended, including senior managers Jeff and John, project managers Adair and Mia, and administrative staff Mary and Janette. Jeff, Orion’s president, participated in a technical panel entitled Alternatives to Dig-and-Haul. He presented a case study in which Orion saved a client over 5 million dollars by implementing onsite soil treatment instead of dig-and-haul and successfully achieved case closure and property sale. John, Adair, and Mia attended other sessions, learning about property redevelopment and entitlement, liability transfer mechanisms, multi-incremental sampling, and more. Mary and Janette greeted conference participants at the Orion booth, where they shared snacks and coloring books along with information about Orion.
Orion staff participated in a mobile tour that visited several real-world examples of land recycling, including the Porsche Experience Center and Dominguez Gap Wetlands. They also enjoyed chatting with other conference participants at the networking reception.
